Alicia Cherian

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York. I received my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliance Graduate School of Counseling and trained extensively at Focus on Solutions, a private practice. I also received my training at Mental Health Association of New York City, a local and nationwide crisis resource for individuals, friends, and family members. There, I gained experience in training of employees, teaching, and speaking and went on to train professional counselors and leaders at another large counseling service as well. I have counseling experience in relational work, depression, anxiety, suicide, crisis intervention, premarital counseling, communication, cultural identity, self-image, parenting and family work. I am trained as a PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator to equip individuals dating or considering marriage, as well as trained in ASIST – Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. I bring an energy to therapy that makes clients feel they are seen and belong and this matters to me. I genuinely believe that the clients I see have the capability to create beautiful, long-lasting change. I listen and help identify patterns from the past and present while creating space for the client’s story to truly understand the issue. I believe in using client-centered, and systemic approaches to see the whole of a person in the context of their relationships. I use Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Emotion Focused, Internal Family Systems, Strategic, Structural and Intergenerational modalities of therapy. I am warm, compassionate, honest, intuitive and have years of experience to meet the client where they are.
