Michelle Medina (LMHC)

I am a licensed mental health counselor in New York with 10 years of experience in counseling. My main focus has been addictions, intimate partner violence, and trauma. I am also well versed in intellectual and developmental disabilities and crisis counseling and consulting for families and systems struggling with behavioral issues. I come from a place of understanding that substance abuse issues and current life issues stem from our past traumas. An untreated mental health diagnosis can lead to many long term issues. My counseling style is to listen first. I want to understand you and what motivates you. I come from a place of compassion and want to challenge you to be your best self. I have a sound background in motivation and self-determination theory, cognitive behavioral theory, and solutions based counseling. We will sit down together and come up with the best treatment plan for you, taking into account where you’re at in your journey and how far you’re willing to go.
