What Alexis says about the work

Reproduced in full and unedited - not summarised, not tightened, not rewritten in a house voice.

Are you looking for a relatable therapist? Someone who can help you work through life’s struggles with a realistic approach? Maybe experiencing anxiety and depression? Maybe someone who you will laugh with, cry with, and be challenged by? Well, I’m your girl! We all want to be understood and heard. It is a basic human necessity for healing. I do my best to cultivate an environment where you can be open and honest about the struggles you are facing. I will never judge you for anything you are going through because we are all human and dealing with the human experience.

Hi there! My name is Alexis Skopos, and I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida who specializes in Brainspotting, life transition, first time therapy clients, and Greek American clients. I have been described as having a "full personality". I use humor, compassion, and challenging to get you to your therapy goals!

I graduated from Stetson University with a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. I have a certification in multiple Brainspotting practices, trauma informed CBT, trauma informed ACT, Gottman couple's counseling, and Prepare/ Enrich. I also have experience working in residential units, crisis units, high schools, child welfare, and methadone clinics.

I am incredibly passionate about working with the LGBTQIA community, sex positive community, body acceptance community, and domestic violence survivors. I am very open minded to most communities and will go the distance to educate myself for multicultural informed care.

I come from a Greek background and am passionate about the ancient Greek concept of

Sophrosyne, which focuses on improving one’s character and maintaining an upbeat sound of mind. The idea is to lead a well-balanced life and gain a sense of control rather than feeling like your life is spiraling and you don’t have access to the brakes or steering wheel. So that is my approach toward helping others achieve their goals and create new pathways in life to better themselves. We all need to take time for ourselves and connect with a sense of inner peace.

In my free time I enjoy candle making, resin art making, doing different makeup styles, and getting tattoos… I think I may have over one hundred tattoos altogether! I love the idea of self-expression and loving your own originality. I believe in the power of creativity, whether in music, art, dance, writing, or whatever brings you happiness. I also think using one’s imagination brings so much joy and inner peace. That’s why I love playing with dogs, games, swimming , and going to state springs in my spare time! I also love collecting plants, designing things, laughing with friends and family, and seeking new adventures. To me, life is full of possibilities, and I try to relish each day to the fullest.

I welcome you and look forward to getting to know you better!

03 · What happens next

From this page to a first session

Alexis practises through BetterHelp, so the route in is BetterHelp's. This is that sequence, written by Maker Therapy from the platform's published process - not a description of Alexis's own practice, and not a promise about how quickly anything happens.

  1. A questionnaire, not a booking form

BetterHelp opens with a set of questions about what you are dealing with, what you want from therapy, and any preferences on the therapist. You are not booking Alexis at this point.

  2. Naming Alexis specifically

BetterHelp matches algorithmically by default, so asking for Alexis is a step you have to take. There is a field for requesting a specific therapist during sign-up, and you can switch afterwards from your account. Starting from a link on this page does not by itself assign you to Alexis.

  3. If the caseload is full

You will be offered somebody else rather than put on a waitlist. Worth knowing, because it is easy to assume a match is the person you asked for.

  4. The first conversation

A first session is typically history and orientation: what brought you, what has been tried, what you want to be different. It is also where the questions in the next section belong.

  5. If the fit is wrong

Changing therapist on BetterHelp does not need a reason. A first session that does not click is common and is not a verdict on therapy. That option existing is the main practical difference between a platform and a private practice.

04 · Before you commit

2 questions worth asking Alexis

Built from what Alexis actually lists, so they are answerable and specific rather than generic. Maker Therapy's, not Alexis's - Alexis has not seen them and is under no obligation to answer any of them.

  • “How do you decide when someone is ready to work on a traumatic memory itself?”

Pacing is the biggest safety question in trauma work. A clear, unhurried answer here matters more than any credential.

  • “How do you handle the gap between sessions if something comes up?”

On BetterHelp this varies a great deal by therapist. Better to know the rhythm now than to discover it on a bad week.

Where every line on this page came from

Alexis's name, credential, state, subjects, approaches and biography are read from BetterHelp's therapist roster, which Maker Therapy re-reads once a day; this page reflects the reading taken on 9 Oct 2026. The licence number and NPI are cross-checked against public registers.

The plain-English method descriptions, the first-session walkthrough and the questions are written by Maker Therapy and labelled as such wherever they appear.

Maker Therapy is not BetterHelp, does not take bookings, and has not met Alexis. There are no reviews or ratings on this page because we have no way to verify one. If you start therapy through a link here, we may be paid a commission - it does not change your price and it does not affect who appears here or in what order.
