I'm Alicia Iacovetta, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) based in Florida. I work with adults who are navigating substance use, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and co-occurring conditions, where more than one concern is present at the same time. I also help clients build practical skills for managing stress.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an emphasis in Psychology from Dominican College of Blauvelt in Orangeburg, New York, and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia.
I bring 15 years of experience in behavioral health and human services. I began in residential homes, supporting people with a range of special needs to build independence in daily living. I then moved into outpatient Targeted Case Management focused on co-occurring disorders, and providing advocacy for clients within the community. Later, in an acute care setting, I worked as a rehabilitation specialist, leading therapeutic groups and supporting clients in crisis. I have also experienced co-facilitating groups in an Intensive Outpatient Program focused on substance use and relapse prevention. In my most recent experience, as a Mental Health Clinician in emergency services, I provided therapeutic services to clients in crisis and helped them identify their needs and set goals to support their growth and recovery. Across all of these roles, I've seen how much people can change when they feel respected and understood.
I use a variety of approaches and modalities, tailored to each person, including CBT, Gestalt, and Adlerian counseling. With CBT, we look at the thoughts, habits and stress responses that keep old patterns in place and practice new ways of responding. Gestalt work helps you stay connected to what you're feeling and experiencing right now. Adlerian counseling focuses on your strengths, your goals, and what gives your life meaning and connection.
Reaching out for help takes courage, and taking that first step is already something to be proud of. You don't have to have it all figured out before we begin. When you're ready, I'll meet you where you are, with respect and without judgment.
