Welcome to BetterHelp! My name is Heather and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in California. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. Early in my career, I worked in the home with at risk children and their parents to help reduce the chances of the child being placed in foster care. For the majority of my career I’ve worked with clients who struggle with mental illness and substance abuse issue. I’ve been able to be part of many miraculous stories of growth and change for the better. I have 10 years experience helping individuals overcome low self-esteem, loss of focus, depression/anxiety, and manage trauma symptoms. My approach is solution focused and client orientated. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). All modalities are about changing thinking patterns and behaviors, but each has a specialized target for change. Times may be challenging, but I believe that we all want to live our best life. My goal and commitment to you is that I will work closely with you, using all the tools available to us, to help you move toward your best life. I look forward to beginning our journey together!
