Dr. Juanita McGowan

Dr. Juanita McGowan is a seasoned professional counselor, life coach, teacher, consultant, and administrator with over 40 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker in Kansas. As an African-American, faith-based woman, she brings a unique perspective to her practice. Dr. McGowan understands that the journey of life can be challenging and difficult, and she applauds her clients for taking the courageous step to seek counseling support. She believes that everyone deserves to live their best life and offers guidance and support to help clients achieve a healthy state of mindfulness and wellness. Dr. McGowan places a strong emphasis on the role of the mind, thoughts, and consciousness in overcoming current issues and struggles. She embraces her clients’ faith and incorporates it into the therapy process if desired. Her counseling style is warm, engaging, positive, and goal-oriented. Dr. McGowan encourages clients to tap into their strengths and personal resources to guide their treatment plan. She has worked with a diverse range of multicultural clients, including children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. McGowan holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas and a Doctorate of Philosophy degree from Kansas State University in Adult and Continuing Education.
