What Kaylee says about the work

Reproduced in full and unedited - not summarised, not tightened, not rewritten in a house voice.

Maybe you’ve gotten really good at pushing through, taking care of what needs to be done, showing up for everyone else, or telling yourself you’re fine, while underneath it all you may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted. Maybe something difficult happened in your past that still affects you today, or you’re simply at a point where you know something needs to change but aren’t sure where to begin.

Hi, I’m Kaylee, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I believe human beings have an innate capacity to heal. Trauma, difficult relationships, loss, and life experiences can sometimes disconnect us from ourselves and make it harder to trust what we’re feeling or what we need. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of those experiences, and begin reconnecting with yourself.

My approach is warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy, and you don’t need to know exactly what to say. My role isn’t to “fix” you. Instead, we will work together to understand what you’re experiencing, notice patterns that may no longer be serving you, and gently build tools that help you feel more grounded and confident as you move forward.

I have experience supporting adolescents and adults experiencing trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. My background includes school-based counseling, supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and providing therapy to refugees who have experienced war, displacement, trauma, and significant transitions.

I practice primarily from a trauma-informed and person-centered perspective, with a deep respect for the connection between the mind and body. Sometimes we understand intellectually that we are safe or that something is over, yet the body continues to respond as though the threat is still present. Therapy can help us begin to notice, understand, and gently work with those responses rather than feeling controlled by them.

Depending on your needs, our work may include grounding and somatic techniques, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), practical coping strategies, and exploration of the experiences and patterns influencing your life today. I tailor therapy to you rather than expecting you to fit into one particular approach.

I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach that can help people process traumatic or distressing experiences. When appropriate, we can explore whether EMDR might be helpful for your goals.

Whether you are carrying something from the past, struggling with what is happening right now, or simply feeling stuck, you do not have to have the answers before beginning therapy. We can start exactly where you are.

03 · What happens next

From this page to a first session

Kaylee practises through BetterHelp, so the route in is BetterHelp's. This is that sequence, written by Maker Therapy from the platform's published process - not a description of Kaylee's own practice, and not a promise about how quickly anything happens.

  1. A questionnaire, not a booking form

BetterHelp opens with a set of questions about what you are dealing with, what you want from therapy, and any preferences on the therapist. You are not booking Kaylee at this point.

  2. Naming Kaylee specifically

BetterHelp matches algorithmically by default, so asking for Kaylee is a step you have to take. There is a field for requesting a specific therapist during sign-up, and you can switch afterwards from your account. Starting from a link on this page does not by itself assign you to Kaylee.

  3. If the caseload is full

You will be offered somebody else rather than put on a waitlist. Worth knowing, because it is easy to assume a match is the person you asked for.

  4. The first conversation

A first session is typically history and orientation: what brought you, what has been tried, what you want to be different. It is also where the questions in the next section belong.

  5. If the fit is wrong

Changing therapist on BetterHelp does not need a reason. A first session that does not click is common and is not a verdict on therapy. That option existing is the main practical difference between a platform and a private practice.

04 · Before you commit

2 questions worth asking Kaylee

Built from what Kaylee actually lists, so they are answerable and specific rather than generic. Maker Therapy's, not Kaylee's - Kaylee has not seen them and is under no obligation to answer any of them.

  • “How do you decide when someone is ready to work on a traumatic memory itself?”

Pacing is the biggest safety question in trauma work. A clear, unhurried answer here matters more than any credential.

  • “How do you handle the gap between sessions if something comes up?”

On BetterHelp this varies a great deal by therapist. Better to know the rhythm now than to discover it on a bad week.

Where every line on this page came from

Kaylee's name, credential, state, subjects, approaches and biography are read from BetterHelp's therapist roster, which Maker Therapy re-reads once a day; this page reflects the reading taken on 9 Oct 2026. The licence number and NPI are cross-checked against public registers.

The plain-English method descriptions, the first-session walkthrough and the questions are written by Maker Therapy and labelled as such wherever they appear.

Maker Therapy is not BetterHelp, does not take bookings, and has not met Kaylee. There are no reviews or ratings on this page because we have no way to verify one. If you start therapy through a link here, we may be paid a commission - it does not change your price and it does not affect who appears here or in what order.
