Stemming from an educational foundation that included four years at parochial colleges, four years at Big Ten and state universities, and four years at a professional school where I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology, I went on to gain administrative, but primarily clinical experience in a range of settings that included a State hospital, County jail, nursing homes, a private psychiatric hospital, and several private practices. In addition, I have managed contracts and provided services through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). My counseling approach is framed in client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, psychodynamic, solution focused, existential, and faith based orientations. In my early years, I was a generalist working with all ages and families. Currently, my preference is working with individuals in their late teens and older. I view counseling as basically a process to learn more about oneself and/or relationship(s), and to make changes in those areas of life where one has control and/or responsibility. My role is that of teacher, analyst, and facilitator to help you reach your goals. I am sensitive to the challenges and obstacles that arise in examining one’s thoughts, mood, and behaviors in the course of self-learning, personal/relationship growth, and change. From my breath of experience, I offer a range of perspective and skill building techniques through a flexible and culturally sensitive approach.
