I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). I have been a licensed counselor since 2003. I have 10 years of experience in higher education and behavioral healthcare settings that included in-person as well as tele-health. I also have over 8 years of experience in child/eldercare. My treatment approach is based on cognitive behavioral theory as well as Carl Roger’s core conditions from person-centered theory which are empathy, congruence (being genuine and real with you), and unconditional positive regard. I feel you should have a safe, collaborative space in your life where you feel truly heard, can express your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or gossip, and receive compassion, respect and support. I hope to create that space for you during our time together. My techniques are solution focused, cognitive behavioral, and person-centered. They include teaching, reflective listening, encouragement, open-ended questions, identifying your strengths, supporting healthy behaviors, and recommending beneficial resources to cope with challenges you encounter. I often use humor and laughter as an emotional release to cope with stress or anxiety producing situations. When appropriate and with your permission, I will use this technique with you during our sessions. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your therapy goals.
