Yolande McVey

Yolande McVey is a highly skilled and dedicated therapist with a deep passion for counseling. With a background in Social Science, Yolande pursued a master’s program in Community Counseling at National-Louis University in Chicago, where she honed her expertise in remediation and treatment of mental health challenges and conditions. Through internships at major hospitals, Yolande gained valuable insight and training in both group and individual counseling, allowing her to effectively advocate for and provide mental healthcare to adults and adolescents in private and community settings. Yolande’s diverse work history, including positions in corrections, hospital emergency rooms, mobile crisis, and as a director of a large detention center’s mental health department, has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of diagnosis, assessment, and treatment modalities. She combines a blended approach of modalities, with a focus on solution-focused CBT, Reality Therapy, and motivational interviewing to address the unique needs of each client. Yolande’s upbringing in Metropolitan Chicago, experience living in Arizona, and current location in the South have given her a broad understanding of cultural nuances beyond race and gender.
