Dolores Montanez (LCSW)

Hello, my name is Dolores Montanez, I am a Family Therapist with more than 25 years of experience in the field of Mental Health. As a family therapist, I have the privilege to work with parents and their children, adolescents, and individual adults who manifest family relationship issues, as a couple or as parents. I have been fortunate to have worked in various settings such as Community Clinics, Psychiatric Hospitals, and Schools settings. Being bilingual in Spanish and English has allowed me to provide professional services to adults and youth placed within Government Agencies such as Immigration Detention Centers and in Children Camps for the unaccompanied children coming across the Mexican border. I have also been fortunate to have worked abroad for the Air Force and US Army helping our military service men and women along with their dependents. Throughout these settings, the issues I have been able to help many clients include improvement of coping strategies, self concept, and identifying individual inner strengths to cope with adversities that may cause depression, anxiety, sleeping problems, or hinder appropriate relationships. Applying various methodologies, we address and heal traumas and abuse; or simply identify resources and the self confidence necessary for life functioning improvement. I believe we all have the capacity to live peacefully and healthier. I believe we all need a little guidance at one point or another, and everyone deserves respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs including in the Spanish language if necessary. Working in various settings, I’ve been fortunate to have learned from a diverse cultural clientele who seek and take steps to a more fulfilling and happier life. It takes courage to accept that we may need improvement in our lifestyles. I am here to support you in that process.
